MIRDC Invites Metalworking Industry to a PSA-Approved Survey
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) approved the survey to be conducted by the Department of Science and Technology - Metals Industry Research and Development Center (DOST-MIRDC) of metalworking companies particularly those engaged in metalcasting and heat treatment processes to determine the present condition of the industries. The survey will cover the general, market and technical profile, including the problems, issues and concerns, and business outlook for the next five years. Through this survey, the DOST-MIRDC will come out with industry studies that will be used by decision makers, specifically the policy makers, policy implementers and members of the industry in formulating recommendations for facilities upgrading, personnel development and investment incentives. The previous survey on welding sector accounts to 1,041 actual respondents and is now on its preparation of the aggregate industry study. Read More.
Consultative Dialogue for Electroplating Industry Conducted at MIRDC
The Metals Industry Research and Development Center held a Consultative Dialogue participated in by representatives from the electroplating sector on October 19, 2016 at the MIRDC Silver Auditorium. Industry players joined the Center in discussing and formulating appropriate solutions to relevant issues to help boost the electroplating sector. Dr. Danilo N. Pilar, Chief of the Technology Diffusion Division (TDD) of the MIRDC presented the draft of the Philippine Electroplating Industry Study and actively facilitated the dialogue. Read More .
MIRDC Deploys CNC Router in Laguna
The Metals Industry Research and Development Center, an agency of the Department of Science and Technology, is assisting the Whittlers Arts and Crafts of Pakil, Laguna through the deployment of a new technology - the CNC router. The Whittlers designated some of its employees undergo training on how to operate and maintain the machine that will be used to produce its various products. The CNC router or Super Lilok is one of the machines recently developed by MIRDC in partnership with a private company – Primark Toolings, Inc. - to help the furniture industry to meet the requirements for consistent quality thus, attaining global competitiveness.
