The MIRDC and the Philippine Metalcasting Association, Inc. (PMAI) held the validation of the metalcasting industry roadmap on Oct. 6, 2015 at the MIRDC platinum auditorium. The key officials of PMAI including selected industry players joined MIRDC to discuss the roadmap requirements of the Board of Investments. Dr. Adolfo Jesus R. Gopez, the president of the Society of Metallurgical Engineers of the Philippines and of Feati University actively facilitated the "battle of the brains" deliberation. During the discussions, comments are highlighted as follows a) Metalcasting sector roadmap should be linked to the Comprehensive Automotive Resurgence Strategy (CARS) program, b) the proposed foundry institute's funding must include collaboration visits and consultant, and c) the sector can develop a market for machine tools maker especially if the plan is to go into car manufacturing, shipbuilding and aerospace. The strategies are presented by Engr. Lemuel N. Apusaga, MIRDC Senior Science Research Specialist. The next activity would be a consolidation meeting with PMAI and all concerned before the submission of the remaining requirements to be consolidated by Engr. Apusaga.
