2. Spray Dryer |
Spray drying is a technique of using hot gas to produce a dry powder after rapidly drying a liquid or slurry. The Spray Dryer works with the mechanism of separating the solute or suspension particles as a solid and the solvent as vapour. It makes use of a spray nozzle that disperses the liquid or slurry into a controlled drop size spray. This technology is widely used in the production of dry solids in the form of powdery substance or granules such as in the preparation of pharmaceutical products, beverages, food, colourings, and plant extracts. 3. Vacuum Fryer |
It is a machine typically made up of a frying vessel, an oil pre-heating vessel, a vacuum pump, and a control panel that is designed to deep-fry fruits, vegetables, fish and meat. Vacuum frying is a method that uses less oil and requires no preservative. 4. Vacuum Evaporator |
The Vacuum Evaporator has an 80-liter capacity that uses an LPG-fired burner as heat source and a vacuum pump that sucks out the water vapour. This equipment produces food products such as evaporated milk and tomato paste for ketchup. Vacuum evaporation effectively preserves concentrated solid and liquid products so that shelf life is prolonged without sacrificing product quality. 5. Muscovado Sugarcane Crusher |
Compared to the previous model (2011), the sugarcane crusher’s main advantages are: (1) faster fabrication as a result of its welded roller frame, and (2) more compact because of its V-belt idler. This equipment is designed to extract juice from sugarcane using a two-cylinder engine that is connected to a transmission system which reduces speed and produces the torque required for crushing. 6. Sweet Sorghum/Sugarcane Juicer |
The dual-purpose machine functions as juicer of sweet sorghum and crusher of sugarcane. It acts as sweet sorghum juicer when the top roller rotates in the opposite direction as the bottom rollers. It is converted to a sugarcane crusher when: (1) gears are modified due to adjustments in the gaps between the feed rollers and the discharge rollers; (2) the machine’s legs are extended, allowing the extracted juice to flow from the bottom of the pan to a collecting container; and (3) there are provisions to nail the legs onto a wooden trunk. 7. Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Router, “Super Lilok” |
The CNC Super Lilok is a combination of a Router machine and a CNC device. It is operated by G-Codes. The controller reads the G-Codes and translates the numbers to mechanical movement so that it can cut and engrave on woods, metals, and acrylics. A stepper motor drives the Router enabling it to move and cut in three directions: X, Y, and Z. It is developed to help the local wood-working and metal cutting industries stay competitive. It has the ability to produce more intricate and sophisticated woodworking designs in large quantities. 8. CNC Plasma Cutter, “Plasmanoy” |
The CNC Plasmanoy utilizes Digital Signal Processing control and servo drive mechanism on cam follower linear rails for the 2-axis gantry system. The third axis uses a Torch Height Controller. The work piece is placed on a platform made from mild steel laser-fabricated cutting grates. Bended mild steel makes up the spatter catch, which is found immediately below the cutting grates. Flexibility and robustness are brought about by the heavy-duty plasma generator and compressor. It is a highly versatile, accurate, and efficient equipment. It uses a string of codes to follow a set of instructions in an orderly manner in order to produce a tool path on the machine. Its high temperature plasma is capable of boring and cutting ferrous and limited non-ferrous metal materials.

9. Meteorological Buoy |
The Met Buoy is an instrument equipped with sophisticated communication system and sensors that collect and measure real time ocean and weather data. Its sensors enable the equipment to gather data on wind, relative humidity, air temperature, barometric pressure, rainfall, wave height and direction, and sea temperature. Its power supply is sustained by batteries and solar panels so that it is kept continuously operational. The locally-developed Met Buoy will monitor real time disturbances at sea. Its installation in critical areas will monitor changes at sea, most especially during extreme weather conditions. Data gathered will be used to provide accurate and timely information to help prevent sea accidents and tragedies.

10. Earthquake Simulator/Shake Table |
The equipment contains motors underneath the floorboards that duplicate both horizontal and vertical earthquake motions. The Shake Table has features that enable the equipment to simulate earthquakes with intensities ranging from III to VIII. This technology is best for use in the training of civilians and professional responders on various ways to respond to managing disaster risks through understanding intensity and magnitude. It is an effective tool in educating the public and promoting people’s awareness of earthquakes.

11. Biolog Extrusion Machine |
The improved version of the Biolog Extrusion Machine (Model II) effectively extracts coco coir or fiber from coconut husk. These fibers serve as raw materials for ropes and twines, grow poles for plant liners, mats, geotextiles, car seats, mattresses, and many other products. The commercialization of this equipment will turn into usable materials the coconut fibers that were once thrown away and considered farm wastes. Extrusion and utilization of coco coir is a way of generating income for farmers and their families in the coconut-producing regions of the country.

12. Hydroseeding Machine |
The machine consists of a large tank with agitating paddles that mix the slurry. A diesel engine powers the slurry pump that moves the stored cellulose/fiber mulch materials through a hose and a discharge nozzle with high pressure. High pressure allows the Hydroseeder to distribute the seeds to hard-to-reach slopes. The use of the Hydroseeder promotes the growth of vegetation on bare slopes, and is thus, an effective technology to protect the slopes. The growth of vegetation along the usually bare slopes helps prevent erosion and high velocity of run-off during rainy seasons. 13. Water Hyacinth Harvester Module 2 |
The harvester has specially-developed conveyor system and cutters that make the mechanical removal of plants possible. Module 2 is an improved version of the first design in the following aspects: (1) collection rate is at least 1 ton in 90 sec, or at least 15 days to cover a hectare; and (2) operation can be done for eight continuous hours. This equipment arrests excessive growth of water hyacinth, thus, helps address problems on flooding and damage to life and property. The use of the Harvester also lessens negative effects of the proliferation of water hyacinth: risk to health and safety; degradation of water quality; interference with irrigation; hindrance to water transport and recreation. 14. Wrought Iron Equipment |
This is a portable hand-powered wrought iron-forming tool that features four functions: bending; rolling; twisting; and curling of iron and steel bars. 16. Automated Guideway Transit (AGT) |
The locally-fabricated AGT costs cheaper than its imported counterparts like the LRT and the MRT. It also has slimmer dimensions and can be built along narrow streets. The AGT is lightweight and produces less noise because it runs on rubber tires. It is electricity-powered and has zero greenhouse gas emissions. Commercialized used of the AGT will lessen travel time and will promote an environment-friendly mass transit. 17. Micro Cupola Furnace |
The 10-inch diameter Cupola utilizes locally-available coke, cast iron charges, and ambient non-oxygen enriched blast air. It performs with a 120 kg/hr melt rate, costing only P80/kg. Cost decreases at longer campaigns. Its design and development included impressive features such as: state of the art refractory systems; simple design and construction; full control operation; and low cost operation. The Micro Cupola Furnace’s smaller size and lower operating cost make it very suitable for educational institutions teaching foundry technology or for foundries with lower molten metal requirements. The use of this equipment will lead to the better understanding of its basic as well as advanced operating principles. Knowledge and experience from the use of the Micro Cupola Furnace can be used as basis in designing an industrial-type cupola furnace for commercial foundries.
