Taguig City, Metro Manila– The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) expressed its unwavering support to the local manufacturing sector in the virtually held 31st MIAP General Assembly and Election, May 21, 2021.

With this year’s theme “Sustainable Collaboration of Public and Private Stakeholders for Agri-Industrial Modernization in the New Normal,” DOST Secretary Fortunato T. dela Peña looked back at how the DOST was established, how it evolved, and how it carries out research and development for the advancement of various industries including the metals industry.

Sec. dela Peña firmly believes in the capabilities of the country’s manufacturing sector and the metals industry’s leading role in propelling the country towards the Fourth Industrial Revolution, or Industry 4.0. In his concluding message, he congratulated the Metalworking Industries Association of the Philippines, Inc. (MIAP) and shared that he is positively looking forward to future partnerships.

MIAP is a trade association initiated by the Philippine government through the DOST-Metals Industry Research and Development Center (DOST-MIRDC) to answer the need for a body that can represent the metalworking industry sector.
