Adoption of Locally-developed Technologies Spell Continuous Business for Equipment Fabricator

By: Jim Patrick S.D. Erispe

This pandemic is teaching us that the way to be resilient is to adopt locally-made technologies. Filipino-developed technologies are helping local enterprises like GECAR Machine Solutions, Inc. stay active in the business despite the pandemic.

Although many businesses are currently experiencing challenges, GECAR is still very much active in supplying the requirements of the market. Negotiations are ongoing with a client interested in the Vacuum Fryer.

GECAR is a Quezon City-based fabricator of food machineries and farm implements. The company is also a distributor of manufacturing machines and a provider of repair services. The company has been manufacturing technologies developnaed by the Department of Science and Technology-Metals Industry Research and Development Center since June 2019. Aside from the Vacuum Fryer, GECAR is also a licensed fabricator of the LPG Fired Spray Dryer, Freeze Dryer, Modular Water Retort, Rice Transplanter Attachment for Hand Tractor, and Rice Harvester Attachment for Hand Tractor.

As of writing, GECAR Machine Solutions, Inc. has delivered two units of Vacuum Fryer, one unit of Freeze Dryer, and one unit of Water Retort to various private entities in Quezon City, Davao City, and Davao del Norte. The ongoing negotiation may just be the company’s next addition to its successful transactions.

The local market is diverse, and its growing needs will keep on growing. There is a vast opportunity for the metals, engineering, and allied industries to take advantage of – and the best way to go is to use technologies made by Filipinos, technologies intended for unique Filipino needs.
